Booking online is the easiest way to secure a room with us. Alternatively, you can call or email us to book. Or book in person.

Just arrange a visit to the campus via www.heykensington.co.uk/ and our accommodation team can answer all your questions, show you around the building, and help you book.

Make sure you have your photo ID, proof of address and university acceptance letter to hand as you’ll be needing these documents to complete your booking application and secure your room at Hey Kensington.

Booking Online

Step 1:

  • Visit the Hey Kensington website and find your desired student accommodation room, then click “Select Room.”

Step 2:

  • Select your rental period and specific price information.
  • Choose your preferred floor and Hey Kensington will allocate your room.

Step 3:

Fill in your information carefully to ensure accuracy:

  • Personal details: Provide your name, nationality, and age.
  • Home address: Enter your country, city, and post/zip code.
  • Study details: As Hey Kensington only accepts students please make sure to complete this section.

After filling in these details, you’re more than halfway through your reservation.

Step 4:

  • Next, proceed to payment.
  • If you don’t have a UK guarantor, don’t worry.
  • When choosing a payment method, you may select “Pay in Full” to book without needing a guarantor.

Step 5:

  • After completing the payment details, you’ll be prompted to register for an account.
  • Click “Sign up now,” enter your email, and you’ll receive a confirmation email with a verification code.

Step 6:

Once logged in, you’ll reach the Personal Main Interface where you can view the reservation steps.

Follow the prompts to update your emergency contact, verify your student ID, complete the student licence agreement and finalise your reservation.

  • My Details: The system will autofill this section. If you have any special requests, leave a comment, and we will do our best to accommodate you.
  • Emergency Contacts: Enter your parent, guardian  or other contact’s information.
  • Study Details: Verify the pre-filled information.
  • ID Check: Click here to complete your ID check through face recognition and passport upload.

After verification, return to the Finish my booking interface and submit your details.

Final Steps

When you see “Submission completed successfully,” congratulations! Your room reservation is confirmed.

Check your email for booking details and your payment link for the apartment.

You can only move into the property once the accommodation managers have confirmed all required documents and payments have been received and you have had your fire safety induction.

Room Inventories: 

Hey Kensington provides rooms furnished with a bed and headboard, cupboard, bedside table and chest of drawers. To ensure furniture stays in good condition we check all rooms prior to students moving in and carry our regular inspections to review the condition of furniture in the room. 

When you arrive please check all the furniture items and report anything that needs repairing.

If damage occurs due to wear and tear we will repair or replace the item. If a repair is required that is not due to wear and tear you may be charged for the repair or replacement of the item. If there are any unreported broken or damaged furniture items in the room when you move out you may also be charged for repair or replacement costs.

  • Bed: upto £300

Reporting Repairs 

  • As with any property there will be maintenance issues that occur from time to time.
  • Please ensure the accommodation management team as soon as you notice an issue that may require repairs or maintenance by sending an email with a photo or video of the issue and details of the location to [email protected] and we will fix the problem as soon as possible. 

Laundry 

  • There are 2 ground floor laundry rooms at the property and students may use either one.
  • Instructions for use of “pay as you go” washing and drying machines can be found via the laundry app @ www.washstation.co.uk

Cleaning & Hygiene

  • All communal areas including living rooms, kitchens, showers and wcs are maintained by the in-house team.
  • All students must tidy up after themselves when using shared facilities such as kitchens, bathrooms and wcs. 
  • Communal areas, including outside spaces, must also be left clean and tidy after use.
  • Please ensure no items whatsoever are left in hallways at any time.

Safety and Security 

  • Your own safety and security, as well as that of your fellow students, depends on being prepared in the unlikely event of a security or health and safety issue at the student accommodation. 
  • The best way to deal with such a situation is to ensure that you act sensibly and understand the following information.

Emergencies 

  • In the event of an emergency requiring Fire, Ambulance or Police services please call 999 directly and notify us on 0203 889 7575 and [email protected].
  • If there is a power cut in the whole building please check www.powercut105.com  to see if it has been reported to the electricity company and notify us on 0203 889 7575 and [email protected].

Security 

  • All students receive a fob to access the main entrance to the campus at 10 South End, W8 5BU (What three words: incomes.mostly.rams) and the front door of the student accommodation building.
  • Students will also receive a security key for their room which cannot be copied.
  • Please be aware of security in and around the property.  
  • Ensure windows, doors and gates are properly closed or locked behind you when entering and leaving the building.

Keys and Fobs

  • Know where your fobs/keys and mobile phone are at all times. 
  • Never give your fobs/keys to anyone else. 

CCTV & Security Guards

  • The property is monitored by CCTV and there are security guards on site 24/7.
  • The security office may be contacted in the event of a security-related incident on 07943 845151.

Fire Safety 

  • Most fires are caused by accident or human error, so fire safety is the top priority at student accommodation.
  • Prior to moving in you will have received a Fire Safety document and Toolkit along with your license agreement and house rules which all refer to xxxx.
  • Please read and follow the Fire Safety Tool kit (provided to all students on moving in) and signage inside the property for detailed information.
  • Accommodation staff provide monthly fire safety workshops which all students are required to attend at least once per year.
  • Please be alert to items and situations that can be a fire hazard.
  • Please do nothing that could create a flame inside the Property.

Fire Drill Evacuations  

  • Every six months there will be a full evacuation drill organised and conducted by the Hey Kensington property management team.
  • Everyone in the property at the time will be required to evacuate and meet at the Assembly point outside the building.

Evacuation Procedure 

  • If the fire alarm sounds please leave the building calmly using the nearest designated fire exit route and proceed to the Assembly point at xxxxx.
  • Evacuation routes are clearly displayed on each floor of the building.
  • Your nearest exit route, layout of the building and location of the Assembly Point will be shown to you when you first move in.
  • Do not attempt to retrieve any belongings during an evacuation.
  • You may knock on your neighbour’s door to check that they are also evacuating safely. 
  • All students are required to follow instructions from Fire Marshalls and Accommodation Staff who are trained in proper evacuation procedures and how to assist residents, including those with disabilities.

Re-Entry Procedure 

  • Do not re-enter the building until directed to do so once the Fire Marshalls or Accommodation Staff have given the all-clear.

Fire Alarm System 

  • Please do not interfere with fire alarms or smoke detectors. This is a criminal offence.

Fire Alarm Testing 

  • Hey Kensington staff carry out a weekly fire alarm test, every Friday at 1200hrs.
  • Students are not required to evacuate when the fire alarm is being tested. 

Fire doors 

  • Do not leave fire doors held open.
  • Do not remove or interfere with fire door closers.

Smoking 

  • Smoking is strictly forbidden anywhere in or around the property.

Cooking 

  • Do not cook anywhere apart from the designated kitchens.
  • Do not leave cooking unattended. 

Candles  

  • Candles, joss sticks or similar items are banned and will be removed if found inside the buildings.

Heaters 

  • Only the electric heaters supplied in each room or others supplied by the accommodation may be used. No other type of radiator is permitted.

Fire Blankets 

  • These are a sheet of fire-resistant material supplied in each kitchen under a sign saying “Fire Blanket”. 
  • They may be used for putting out any small fires in or around the kitchen area (such as a waste bin, clothing or cooking oil fire).

Fire Extinguishers 

  • Fire extinguishers are located at the top of the stairs at the end of each corridor, in all kitchens and communal areas.
  • Do not attempt to use an extinguisher to put out a fire unless you are sure that you can and have been trained in its use.
  • Only use a fire extinguisher when you have a clear escape route.

Personal Emergency Evacuation plans

  • If you have a disability, injury or condition that might make it more difficult to evacuate in the unlikely event of an emergency please contact [email protected] and we will assist you with a dedicated personal evacuation plan so that you can evacuate as quickly and easily as possible.

Electrical Safety 

Please:  

  • Only use surge-protected extension leads provided by the accommodation.
  • Do not overload circuits by plugging in multiple items to extension leads. Do not use block adapters as these overheat.
  • Never plug larger electrical items like hair dryers, straighteners, irons, eaters or kettles into extension leads.
  • Do not use damaged charging cables or electrical items with damaged cables.
  • Do not leave the building with your electrical items on charge.

Electrical Appliance Safety Testing

  • All electrical items supplied by the accommodation are PAT tested for safety.
  • We reserve the right to remove electrical items that fail PAT testing or are damaged as they present a fire safety risk.

E scooter & e-bikes 

  • Electric bikes and scooters are London’s fastest growing fire risk (according to the London Fire Brigade). 
  • These items may not be kept at the student accommodation or in the bike storage area. 
  • If you wish to use an e-bike or e-scooter the nearest place to hire one from is Kensington High Street.

Windows 

  • All windows are checked monthly to ensure they are working safely and functioning correctly. 
  • If you have any problem with your window please email a photo and description of the issue to [email protected].
  • Please : Do not try to open the window further than it is designed to open. Do not lean out of windows or attempt to sit on window ledges.
  • Please: Do open windows to ventilate rooms with fresh air daily.

Energy Efficiency 

  • Utility bills are included within the monthly licence fee, subject fair use. The management reserves the right to charge students who are found to be excessively or wastefully using energy or abusing the provision of utilities. 
  • Please save energy by: Turning off lights and electrical appliances when not in use. Keeping heaters off or on a timer when not in use.

Water 

  • Drinking water is available from kitchen taps only.
  • Please do not waste water. 
  • Please ensure water taps and showers are turned off when not in use.

Internet & WiFi 

  • Internet and WiFi services are provided for the use of all students at no additional cost.
  • Please ensure that you use the WiFi services fairly and reasonably as would be expected for studying and personal streaming. 

TV Licence 

  • If you wish to watch BBC TV services you will require your own TV license.

  • All students must pay their monthly license fee £1,250.00 on 1st of each month by standing order/bank transfer or annually in advance.

  • One month security deposit required.
  • Your deposit will be returned to you in full when you move out as long as the room is left clean, undamaged and no items belonging to you have been left behind.

  • Students living in rented accommodation should consider taking out a contents insurance policy to protect their possessions.
  • International students may also wish to take out private health insurance.

  • No guests under the age of 18 are allowed in the building. 
  • Guests may not be left alone in the building. 
  • Guests may not be given keys or fobs to access the building unaccompanied.
  • No more than 2 guests per student are permitted at any one time.
  • Parties are strictly forbidden.
